 DEMONSTRATIONS

Be inspired by live demonstrations of exercise, health and art routines that are visually soothing and can become daily practices to promote a better life. From energetic dance routines that will excite the young, to gentle martial arts techniques that promote confidence and health, along with exercises to soothe the body and boost wellbeing, you will have the chance to see some of today's innovative activities in action.

MJ Dance Studio has been running for 18 years. It currently has over 300 students in both Mount Gambier and Millicent.  MJ offers fun and competition classes for dancers aged  3 and up and all styles of dance, jazz, hip hop, classical, song and dance, national, neo modern and tap.  It has two full time teachers Maria Slape, studio director and Justine Morris who has just joined the studio.  Justine has been trained at one of the best ballet studios in Victoria and comes to MJ with teaching qualifications with Cecchetti Ballet Australia. Justine has just completed her first examinations with the studio and all 15 candidates received honours.  Her ballet students have also just been awarded the junior and senior ballet scholarships at the Mount Gambier Eisteddfod. MJ students have just returned from one of the oldest and most recognized competitions in Australia, Royal South Street.  They were successful in gaining 9 first placing as well as a host of other top three placings.  They have returned from the competition really inspired and are keen to now start working towards their concert at the end of November. MJ students love to perform at local events and are looking forward to the Better Life Festival. You can contact Maria Slape for further details on 87230991.

Mount Gambier Martial Arts Academy will be providing us with another fantastic martial arts demonstration this year. Mount Gambier Martial Arts Academy have been teaching karate in Mount Gambier since 1980.  Sensei Owen Povey, 4th Dan Black Belt, is Chief Instructor. Experienced Black Belts instruct all their classes. See these well trained and flexible martial arts masters demonstrate their skills and movements in person. Take the time to speak to them about their lessons in Karate, Kyokushin Kickboxing, Women's kickboxing and Self Defence and Kyokushin Self Motivated  and Weight Training For more details call Keryn or Owen on 8739 9244 or visit Reidy Park Centre on O'Halloran Tce, Mount Gambier.

The Yoga Centre at the Oatmill offers dynamic hatha yoga classes and one on one sessions, involving standing and sitting poses, breath control and relaxation. Our demonstrations will involve showing this type of yoga and how it can be accessed by everyone, despite injuries, illness or age, with variations available to all. We will be exhibiting the benefits of having yoga in your life and the improvement it will bring to all aspects of you, from physical health, relaxation of the mind and allowing emotional blocks to release. There will be something in yoga that fulfills a part of you and leave you feeling more alive.
